Recreation League & Micro-Soccer Program
Basic information
EUSA provides programs for players at a range of ages and skill levels. Two out of the three programs offered are for players who wish to play their games within the Edison Township area. They are the Recreation League and Micro Soccer Program. Here is some basic information regarding these programs:
Spring Seasons The Spring season for the Rec League and Micro-Soccer Program starts either the last Saturday of March or the first Saturday of April and runs through to the middle of June. There are 10 weeks of games with 2 additional weeks set aside for make-ups due to rainouts. Please note that games are played on the Saturdays before Easter Sunday and Memorial Day.
Fall Seasons The Fall season for the Rec League and Micro-Soccer Program starts the first Saturday in September after Labor Day and runs through to the middle of November. There are 10 weeks of games with 1 or 2 additional weeks set aside for make-ups due to rainouts.
Games As stated before, regularly games are played on Saturdays. Games are held during the day at different locations around the Township of Edison based on the grade of the players in question. Please read the information regarding each division for more information about the location of its games.
Practice Sessions Practice sessions for teams in grades 2 through 8 are held during the week. The location and time are determined by the individual parents who volunteer their time as head coaches. Please note that EUSA cannot and will not place players onto teams according to their availability to participate in practice sessions. It is the responsibility of each family to ensure that their child attends practice sessions.

Volunteer Efforts Everyone who helps EUSA is a volunteer. Whether they are an EUSA official (Board Member or Division Director), or a coach, every job that is done by someone in EUSA is on a volunteer basis. As such EUSA is limited in terms of what services it can offer based on the altruism of the parents of the children involved in the program. With respect to head coaches, EUSA can and will limit the number of children who are allowed to participate based on the number of head coaches in every division.
Team Creation In the two youngest divisions (MS/K and MS/1), teams are created by having all children from the same school come together on one team that practices and plays at the same time. In grades 2 through 8 teams are created based on the school attended by the children of the parents who volunteer to be head coaches as well as the schools attended by the rest of the players in the division.
Special Requests EUSA has always allowed parents to make special requests for the placement of children onto teams. However, there has been an increasing amount of misunderstanding the official policy which is summarized below:
- EUSA is not obligated to consider or honor any special requests.
- No special requests for children in Grades K and 1.
- In Grades 2 through 8 parents may not make a special request for their child to be placed with a specific team, coach, or another child whose parent is a coach in the same division as their child.
